As you will know at 11.55 pm last night (after your Post) the AG released an "exposure draft" of amendments to the Marriage Act which are problematic on discrimination grounds. Once the Senate has voted down the Plebiscite legislation, the PM should show leadership for the benefit of Australia and facilitate a free Parliamentary Vote in 2016. The pent up demand for same sex marriages has been variously estimated at $0.5 billion (ANZ) to $1 billion so let us allow this money to be spent in Australia to help our economy and Governments' budgets. Additionally there are many straight Australians who are saying they will not marry until there is equality - more economic activity. The Marriage Act is a secular law and should not discriminate.
